Which route fits your experience?
Learning AI Search and Apollo offer free starting points. CXL describes technical retrieval, passage and entity work for experienced practitioners. Rainmakers adds an ongoing operator community; its GEO/AEO classification is mapped from equivalent public AI-search material rather than a named course module.
Retrieval before rewriting
A useful curriculum helps you distinguish access problems from content problems. Before changing copy, establish whether an appropriate crawler can reach the page and whether the answer is understandable in context. Then examine which competing sources appear. Rewriting cannot guarantee retrieval or citation, and a crawler visit alone does not prove use in an answer.
Citations, entities and authority
Look for source selection, citation-worthy passages, factual consistency and entity identification. A mention without a link and a citation with a link are different observations. Training should explain which it measures and why. It should also show how to evaluate a source’s relevance rather than suggesting that any third-party mention has equal value.
Measurement and a practical exercise
Choose a small set of commercially relevant questions and record the engine, date, answer and cited URLs. Compare repeat observations before drawing conclusions. A course should help you communicate sampling limits and distinguish AI visibility from attributable traffic and revenue. Use one page as a learning exercise and retain the original for comparison.
Free vs paid GEO learning
Free resources can establish the concepts and a first workflow. Pay for depth or feedback you can identify in advance. Ask for the current syllabus, update cadence and an example of the work you will produce. An older publication date alone does not prove bad teaching, but obsolete interfaces and unsupported claims should prompt questions.
