01 / ADVANCED OPERATORS
Best AI SEO course for advanced operators: AI SEO Rainmakers
If you already know technical SEO, content, links and search intent, the biggest risk in buying an AI SEO course is paying to relearn fundamentals.
AI SEO Rainmakers is our strongest fit for advanced operators because its public material covers citations, entities and AI visibility measurement, with equivalent GEO/AEO outcomes while adding an ongoing community/live layer. That matters in a field where tactics and search interfaces change faster than a static course can be re-recorded.
The trade-off is obvious: this is an ongoing paid community rather than a cheap one-time video course. The economics make more sense for someone with active sites, clients or campaigns.

02 / FREE ROADMAP
Best free AI SEO learning roadmap: Learning AI Search
Learning AI Search is where we'd send an experienced SEO who wants to understand the new search layer before buying anything.
It is especially useful because it concentrates on AI-search optimisation rather than pretending that prompting ChatGPT to write meta descriptions is a new SEO discipline.
The weakness is the same thing that makes it free and flexible: you do not get the accountability or live implementation feedback of a cohort/community.

03 / STRUCTURED LEARNING
Best free structured AI visibility course: Semrush Academy
Semrush's AI Visibility Essentials is a strong zero-cost option for marketers who prefer a conventional course structure.
The current curriculum focuses on how AI changes search, tracking prompts rather than only keywords, measuring AI visibility, increasing brand mentions and adapting content strategy. It also provides a certificate.
The course naturally demonstrates Semrush's own tooling, so treat it as excellent vendor education rather than a neutral survey of every AI-search workflow.

Best beginner AI SEO course: Coursera
If you're genuinely new to SEO, jumping straight into LLM citation tactics is backwards.
Coursera's current SEO Masterclass With AI SEO specialisation combines keyword research, on-page SEO, links and analytics with LLM/AI SEO. The public listing describes seven courses and a beginner-level pathway.
It is slower and broader than specialist AI-search training, but that is exactly what a beginner needs.

05 / MARKETPLACE VIDEO
Best marketplace video course: Udemy
Udemy remains useful for buyers who simply want a familiar self-paced video product.
The current SEO & AI SEO Course 2026 listing describes 9 sections, 41 lectures and approximately 2 hours 50 minutes covering conventional SEO, backlinks, AI workflows and GEO.
Choose it for breadth and convenience. Choose a specialist course instead if your traditional SEO fundamentals are already solid.

View on Udemy ↗How to choose an AI SEO course
1. Decide whether you need SEO foundations or AI-search specialisation
If you cannot confidently audit crawlability, intent, content and links, choose a broad SEO course first. AI search does not make those mechanics disappear.
2. Look for explicit AI-search outcomes
For specialist training, look for evidence of GEO/AEO, citation acquisition, entity optimisation, retrieval/content structure and measurement. A generic "use ChatGPT for SEO" module is not the same thing.
3. Pick the delivery model you'll actually use
Self-paced courses are cheap and flexible. Cohorts provide deadlines. Communities provide ongoing feedback. Certificates matter in some employment contexts and almost not at all in others.
4. Check when the curriculum was updated
AI-search products move quickly. A brilliant 2024 course can still contain obsolete implementation advice in 2026.
5. Don't pay before checking the free options
There is enough quality free training to learn the vocabulary and basic mechanics. Pay when you know which gap you are paying to close.
What is an AI SEO course?
An AI SEO course teaches one or both of two disciplines:
- Using AI for SEO: applying AI tools to keyword research, content, technical analysis, automation and conventional search workflows.
- Optimising for AI search: improving whether a brand, page or source is retrieved, cited, mentioned or recommended by systems such as Google AI, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
The second discipline overlaps with generative engine optimisation (GEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO).
The strongest modern courses make the distinction clear.
Do you need to pay for an AI SEO course?
No.
Start with free material if you are still working out what GEO, AEO, retrieval and LLM citations mean. Semrush Academy, HubSpot Academy and Learning AI Search give you enough material to establish that baseline.
Pay when you need one of four things:
- Deeper specialist curriculum
- A structured progression
- Live coaching/accountability
- An ongoing practitioner community
A paid course should buy leverage, not vocabulary you could have learned for free.

How we selected these courses
We compare current public course information rather than relying on a provider's marketing headline alone.
We check, where available:
- Price and access
- Provider and instructor
- Format and level
- GEO/AEO
- LLM citation training
- Entity SEO
- AI visibility measurement
- Traditional SEO
- Live support and community
- Certificate
- Last verification date
A missing public field is recorded as Unknown, not automatically No.
We do not claim to have personally completed every course. Provider curriculum claims tell us what a course says it teaches; they do not prove a student outcome.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWEREDAI SEO course FAQs
What is the best AI SEO course in 2026?
For an advanced SEO who values ongoing implementation support, our strongest fit is AI SEO Rainmakers. For free learning, start with Learning AI Search, Semrush Academy or HubSpot Academy. Beginners who still need broad SEO foundations should choose a structured course that covers both traditional and AI SEO.
What is the best free AI SEO course?
There is no single free option for every learner. Semrush Academy offers a structured course/certificate format, HubSpot is useful for AEO fundamentals, and Learning AI Search is a strong self-directed roadmap for experienced SEOs.
Is AI SEO the same as GEO?
Not exactly. GEO usually refers specifically to visibility in generative search systems. AI SEO is often used more broadly and can also mean using artificial intelligence inside conventional SEO workflows.
What is AEO?
Answer engine optimisation focuses on making content suitable for answer-oriented search experiences. Modern AEO overlaps heavily with GEO, citations, entities and retrieval.
Can I learn AI SEO without knowing traditional SEO?
You can learn the terminology, but execution is easier if you understand crawling, indexing, search intent, content, links and authority first.
Are AI SEO certificates worth it?
A certificate can be useful as evidence of structured learning, particularly for junior/in-house roles. For experienced operators, demonstrated results and practical execution usually matter more.
